Spring baseball season runs from late March to mid June with divisions to accommodate player skill levels ranging from beginners as young as 4 years of age to 12-year-old major leaguers. The following formats are included in our spring community program:
- Quickball: Players who are 4-5 years old and some who are 6 years old
Quickball is a high-speed, low-pressure baseball training program. Mixing physically-active game play with individual accomplishment and style. Quickball is revolutionizing baseball programming for young players. Players with little or no diamond experience gain baseball skills in a competitive team setting. More information on Quickball can be found at www.usaquickball.com.
- Pony B: 55’ Bases – 42’ pitcher’s mound (Coach-Pitch) 6-7 years old
Pony B division is an instructional league for 6 year old boys and girls, intended to continue to develop basic skills, to expand on fundamentals, and promote self-confidence. All players shall be given the opportunity to learn several defensive positions through fielding and improve offensively with their batting. Accuracy in throwing shall be stressed in Pony B to improve fielding skills and to afford players the opportunity of becoming potential pitchers in Pony A. Players will not pitch in Pony B as pitching will be performed by a coach. Four outfielders may be used at this level.
- Pony A: 55’ Bases – 42’ pitcher’s mound (Player-Pitch with Coach Assist) 8 years old
Pony A division is intended for 8 year old boys and girls and expands on the principles of Pony B, while allowing players to learn how to pitch. In order to speed up the game while still developing young pitchers, after the pitcher has pitched 4 balls the coach of the batter will step in to pitch. Four outfielders may be used at this level. Scores are kept at this level but there are no standings kept as there are no playoffs. There will be an All-Star game at the end of the season with players selected by their coaches.
- Minors: 60’ Bases – 46’ pitcher’s mound (Player-Pitch)
Minors division is intended for 9 and 10 year old boys and girls (or 8 years old in 3rd grade). Players will be introduced to the complete game of baseball including unassisted player-pitching and stealing (except for stealing home). Three outfielders will be used at this level. Scores are kept at this level and team standings are used to seed the playoffs. There will be a Minors All-Star game at the end of the season with players selected by their coaches.
- Majors: 70’ Bases – 50’ pitcher’s mound (Player-Pitch)
